Sh2-293,295,   These two nebulas are a part of a large region of nebulosity located approximately 3,650 light-years away in the constellation Monoceros (the Unicorn), on the border with Canis Major and the brightest star in the sky, Sirius. Sh 2-293 is the larger of the two nebulae and is a roughly spherical nebula.  Both are located in front of the right wing of the much larger Seagull nebula(NGC 2177).https://earthandskyimaging.com/product/ic-2177-seagull-nebula/
Sh 2-293 is ionized by the B2 III giant star HD 52751 located in the center of the nebula. The smaller Sh2-295 is ionized by its bright star located in its center. The nebula is composed of interstellar dust clouds and hydrogen, helium, and other gases that are ionized by the energetic young stars formed within the nebula. The radiation of the new stars causes the  hydrogen gas above Sh2-293 to glow with a reddish color and is a part of the right wing of the Seagull nebula. The blue color surrounding these nebulae is caused by reflected star light on gas and dust clouds. It is likely part of a larger area swept up by successive supernova explosions.  The image is a true color L,RGB image.  The image was taken with a 24″ Planewave telescope in Rio Hurtado Chile at a reduced focal ration of f 4.3 giving it a larger field of view.
