 NGC 2014,2020, 2035,2040, Cosmic Reef    With its sea of young stars, the massive star-forming region NGC 2014 on the far left of the image has been dubbed the Cosmic Reef. To its right is the smaller NGC 2020, is an expansive blue-hued structure erupting from a single central Wolf Rayet star, 200,000 times brighter than the Sun. The image spans some 1200 light-years within the Large Magellanic Cloud 160,000 light-years away, a satellite galaxy of our Milky Way. NGC 2035 at the far right of the image is an emission nebula  and 2040 to its right is a supernova remnant that appears like a red rose. The image is a composite of  narrowband  and true color RGB images where the red is emission from hydrogen gas and the blue green is emission from oxygen gas. This image was taken with a 24″ Planewave telescope in Rio Hurtado Chile.
