Solar Eclipse August 21, 2017 This composite image was created during the total solar eclipse of August 17, 2017. The center image was taken through a Takahashi FS152 telescope using a f6 focal reducer at 900mm. A Canon 5D MarkIV camera was used in High Dynamic Range(HDR) mode with 7 exposures from 1/8000 second to 1/2 second. The HDR processing was done with Photomatix 6 using the natural setting. The final processing was done with Photoshop CC2017 where the 1/2 exposure was enhanced to bring out the detail in the moon. The overall image shows both the solar aurora out several solar diameters and the detailed aurora near the sun despite the >100x brightness difference. The solar prominences are visible as is the moon detail from earthshine from the earth. Surrounding the center image is a composite of smaller images taken with a Lunt solar telescope showing the various phases of the eclipse. Also included were the two diamond ring images taken with the Takashashi FS152
